The broad vision that brought the founding members together was one of a football club that was owned by our community and represented the community’s civic, social and cultural identity.
The genesis of this club goes all the way back to 2008 and can be traced through lots of small meetings, chats, encounters, and talk.
It’s fair to say our club has been quite succesfull in its 5 short years in existence.

PREVIEW
For those Purps with a peculiar sense of deja vu, yes we are playing Marske again on the opening day of our League campaign! In order to quickly produce a fixture list for the season, the League officials have taken last years fixtures and just flipped them. So whereas last year we began away at Marske, we now play them at home.
City of Liverpool began the season last Saturday with a comprehensive 3-0 away win to Glossop NE in the FA Cup Preliminary Round. A number of outstanding individual performances on the day, with goals from Elliot Nevitt, Gerard Kinsella and Jack Hazlehurst meant we have now reached at least the 1st Qualifying Round in each of our last 3 seasons.
Marske themselves have also reached the 1st Qualifying Round of the FA Cup following a 2-0 away win over Crook Town AFC which was preceeded by a 3-0 home win against North Shields.
This will be the 3rd meeting between the Purps and Marske United. Our previous two fixtures both coming last season. Both games where keenly contested however Markse won each of these matches 1-0. Hopefully third time’s the charm for the Purps on Saturday afternoon.
