City of Liverpool FC are pleased to announce the signing of James Yates.

The 22 year old full back came through the ranks at Everton and was capped at England youth level before a spell at Hull City.

Following his time at Hull, James spent a period at Northern Premier League side Witton Albion where he was highly regarded and won their player of the month award for August 2018.

Since playing for Witton, James has spent a short period out of the game and is pleased to resume his career back home.

Commenting on joining the Purps, James said, “I’ve heard a lot about the club so I’m pleased to sign and I’m looking forward getting back playing in my home city.”

Speaking of his new signing, manager Craig Robinson added, “Jay has an impressive background with coming through the system at Everton, playing for England u16’s, 17’s and 18’s then having a year at Hull as a professional.”

“He’s had a short period out of the game and we’re lucky he’s chose us to give him the platform to get back playing football. He’s a young lad with a lot of hunger, enthusiasm and desire to improve and be successful.”

“I’m sure the Purps fans will be as excited see him playing as we are!”

Welcome to the club, James.
