City of Liverpool FC are pleased to announce the return of Zac Aley for the forthcoming 2021-22 season.

Aley joined the Purps in December 2020, having previously worked with manager Michael Ellison at Runcorn Linnets.

A versatile midfielder who is also comfortable at full back, Zac came through the youth ranks at Southport, impressing in the First Team before being snapped up by then Premier League side Blackburn Rovers.

Whilst at Rovers, Aley featured in the Football League during loan spells with Morecambe and Macclesfield Town respectively. He has also represented Warrington Town, Ashton Town, Northwich Victoria and Linnets.

In total, Zac made 4 appearances for the Purps in the 2020-21 campaign before the season was again ended by the pandemic. Zac made his debut in the FA Trophy victory at Buxton and also impressed on his first start, as the Purps demolished Pontefract Collieries 4-1 at home.

Michael Ellison explained, ”Zac is a player I know really well from my tome at Runcorn Linnets.”

“He’s had terrible luck with injuries of late, but hopefully those are behind him now,”

“He brings with him pace and power, he can play in a number of positions and he’s a great lad in the dressing room. The Purps have only seen a glimpse of what he can do.”
