COLFC V MARSKE UNITED
SATURDAY 19TH SEPTEMBER 3PM KO
In order for non-league football to be back playing regularly we have new rules we have to adhere to concerning Covid-19. Capacity is limited to 400 and it is an ALL TICKET MATCH. If you havent bought a ticket online please don’t turn up as you will be refused entry.
Please be respectful of our volunteers who will be trying to ensure people stick to the guidelines. It is important for everyone’s health that these are adhered to and so we can all keep watching the Purps in as safe an environment as possible.
For those Purps with a peculiar sense of deja vu, yes we are playing Marske again on the opening day of our League campaign! In order to quickly produce a fixture list for the season, the League officials have taken last years fixtures and just flipped them. So whereas last year we began away at Marske, we now play them at home.
City of Liverpool began the season last Saturday with a comprehensive 3-0 away win to Glossop NE in the FA Cup Preliminary Round. A number of outstanding individual performances on the day, with goals from Elliot Nevitt, Gerard Kinsella and Jack Hazlehurst meant we have now reached at least the 1st Qualifying Round in each of our last 3 seasons.
Marske themselves have also reached the 1st Qualifying Round of the FA Cup following a 2-0 away win over Crook Town AFC which was preceeded by a 3-0 home win against North Shields.
This will be the 3rd meeting between the Purps and Marske United. Our previous two fixtures both coming last season. Both games where keenly contested however Markse won each of these matches 1-0. Hopefully third time’s the charm for the Purps on Saturday afternoon.
